An Interesting Overview On Espresso Machines

Espresso – one of the most favorite beverages in the world, is a kind of coffee in which the finely grinded coffee beans are brewed under the pressure of hot water. It was the 20th century when the espresso machine was first used, the patent for which was filed in the year of 1901 by an Italian named Luigi Bezzera. Espresso machines produce thicker coffee with high concentration of dissolved solids and crème, unlike a plain simple coffee, and offers double the pleasure of drinking an excellent coffee.

The brewing of coffee under the pressurized hot water helps concentrating and mixing all the flavors, sugar and chemicals into the coffee. Keeping such a concentration as base other amazing beverages are made such as latte, mocha, and cappuccino and so on. It is the very styles of making espresso coffee, which makes it stand out and more preferable for the coffee lovers.

Espresso coffee is made in a separate espresso machine which facilitates and eases the unique process of making an espresso coffee. There are primarily three types of espresso machines – Steam driven, Piston driven and Pump driven. Steam driven espresso machine works with the pressure of steam which forces the water through the grinded coffee.

The early day’s espresso machines were like this, the design of which has been changed over the years to offer the best espresso machines, though the basic design still remains the same. However, the low budget steam driven espresso machines are still sold in the market and are ideal for occasional or regular home usage hence can be used as home espresso machine.

Another type of espresso machine is the Piston driven machine and as the name suggests it uses a piston or lever. The piston driven espresso machine was developed by Gaggia for the first time in Italy and since then Gaggia has been the renowned makers of coffee machine, specializing in espresso coffee machine popularly known as Gaggia espresso machine. In piston driven machine, the operator pumps the lever through which hot water is pressurized and is sent through the coffee grinds.

The piston espresso machine is further categorized into manual piston and spring piston. In manual piston machine, the water is pushed forward manually whereas in spring piston it is the spring on which force is exerted which then exerts pressure on water.

The Pump driven espresso machine is an upgraded version of a piston espresso machine and is widely used in today’s world and is best used as commercial espresso machine. The pump in this machine which is a motor driven pump exerts the pressure for brewing the coffee.

Some pump driven machines have water reservoirs inside the machine itself and some machines has a single chamber to heat the water along with boiling water to steam the milk. In other types of pump driven machines, there is a separate chamber for heating the water. These machines come in automatic, semi-automatic and super-automatic modes, which perform different functions automatically.

Over the years with the dynamic technology the espresso machines have changed to serve the best espresso coffee for you to savor every drop of it!
